With the EatMyRide Simple Nutrition Planner Data Field you can get your nutrition and drink plan on your Garmin watches and get reminders when to eat and drink. Check out here whether it is compatible with your device and how you can install it and set it up.

Most devices of the following product lines are compatible, as well as several others:

  • Forerunner
  • Fenix
  • Epix
  • Enduro
  • Marq
  • Venu

Note that some Garmin watches have limited memory size for data fields, which make them incompatible with this Data Field. Examples are the Fenix 5 and 6 and the Forerunner 245. For those devices the EatMyRide Cycling Nutrition Widget is available.

How does it work?

This Data Field provides an additional screen in the activity screens. When you have created a nutrition plan in the EatMyRide mobile app (iOS or Android). you can stick to your plan during your ride using the Data Field. It shows you the next nutrition product to consume, but also the progress of the plan, i.e. how much foods and drink bottles you should already have taken. Also you can get alerts when you need to eat.

How to install and set up the EatMyRide Simple Nutrition Planner Data Field

  1. First of all, make sure you have the Garmin Connect IQ app installed on your smartphone.
  2. Then you can download the Data Field here. Garmin puts your download in a queue. Sync your Garmin device until the Connect IQ app states that the app is downloaded.
  3. To activate the data field on your Garmin device, first open the menu on the device. Select Activity Profile and Add/edit a data field. Add the EatMyRide Data Field by clicking Add new to add a new data screen, and clicking consecutively ConnectIQ and simplePlanner. The data field has to be fullscreen.
  4. To use the nutrition plan on your Garmin, create a nutrition plan in the EatMyRide app and click Send to my Garmin. Make sure your device is connected to your phone via Bluetooth. Follow the steps in the EatMyRide app to sync the nutrition plan to your device.
  5. To activate the alerts on your Garmin device, first open the menu on the device. Select Activity Profile and Add/edit an alert. Add the EatMyRide Alert by clicking consecutively ConnectIQ and simplePlanner.

Some remarks

If you are also using the EatMyRide Cycling Nutrition Planner Data Field on a Garmin Edge device you might wonder why this EatMyRide Simple Nutrition Planner app has limited functionality. For example it doesn’t have a menu where you can view the whole plan. The reason for this is that data screens on Garmin watches can’t handle user input. So there is no interaction possible.

The EatMyRide Simple Nutrition Planner is not available for the following devices, due to limited memory size of those:

  • Fenix 5 (S/X), 6 (S)
  • Forerunner 245, 55, 645, 735XT and 935
  • Instinct 2 (S/X)
  • Venu (D/Sq)
  • Vivoactive 3/4/4S
