Peak performance in cycling and other endurance sports is dependent on many factors. Nutrition is one of those factors that can make the difference between winning and losing a race. Are your athletes already aware of the importance of nutrition? Good news, with EatMyRide you can nail the nutrition intake for them.

1. Planning nutrition

A proper nutrition strategy is vital for a cycling race. With EatMyRide you and your athlete can create nutrition plans for races and trainings. Based on the expected intensity of the ride – or the information from the planned TrainingPeaks workout –  and the personal characteristics of the athlete you get advise on the amount of nutrition needed. So each rider gets a personalized nutrition and drinks plan for each ride. EatMyRide automatically adapts its planning to the specific products you select. And it doesn’t stop here. With the Garmin integration your athlete can get notifications during the ride when to eat and when to drink. That’s how EatMyRide makes nutrition planning easy.

2. Insight into metabolism, burn and intake

We already mentioned it, each athlete gets a personalized nutrition plan for his ride. But how do we calculate these plans? EatMyRide determines the personal metabolism of the cyclist based on all of his or her personal characteristics, like FTP, VO2Max and weight. With this information the fat and carbohydrate burn at each moment of each ride is be calculated. Glycogen is an important limiting factor for peak performance, so to improve as an athlete the carbohydrate intake should be adequate compared to the carbohydrate burn. Therefore we give you insight in the carbohydrate burn of each ride, as well as the nutrition intake and required intake. We do this for instance by showing the respectively predicted and actual glycogen usage during each planned and actual ride. Also, your athlete can keep track of his actual usage during the ride based on the real time power or heart rate data. All these things help to get insight into the behaviour of your athlete and you learn the areas where the athlete can improve with your help.

3. Track progress

Training towards peak performance is all about tracking progress towards the goal. This also holds for nutrition during and around cycling rides. It is, for instance, very important for fanatic cyclists to train the gut and to learn to eat 60 to 90 grams of carbohydrates per hour. With EatMyRide you have all the tools to make sure your athletes learn to eat properly during their rides, but also before and after.
