In this guide we cover some of the most frequent occurring issues with the Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer app.

1. Device not found when syncing data

Problem: When I try to sync data from the EatMyRide mobile app to the Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer, the device isn’t found, while the device is connected in Garmin Connect.

Solution: Some devices could be connected in Garmin Connect via WiFi. However, to transfer data from the EatMyRide mobile app to the datafield on your Garmin, it should be connected via Bluetooth. Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone and make sure your Garmin is connected via Bluetooth. Then the device should be findable in the EatMyRide app.

2. Mobile app says that Bluetooth isn’t enabled

Problem: I have enabled Bluetooth on my phone and my Garmin device is connected in Garmin Connect. However, when I try to sync data from the EatMyRide mobile app to my Garmin, the EatMyRide mobile app states that Bluetooth is not enabled.

Solution: The EatMyRide app needs to have permission to get access to Bluetooth on your phone. Go to the settings of your phone and make sure that the EatMyRide app has permission to use Bluetooth.

  • On Android: Go to Settings > Apps and notifications > EatMyRide > Permissions and allow Bluetooth permission.
  • On iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy and alter the permissions for Bluetooth so that EatMyRide has access to Bluetooth.

3. Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer says I need to upgrade

Problem: When I use the Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer it shows a message that I need to upgrade to EatMyRide Premium. However, I already have EatMyRide Premium.

Solution: The Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer does not know by default whether you are a Premium user. To remove this message from the data field you can sync data from the mobile app to the data field on your Garmin: go in the mobile app to Home > Garmin apps > Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer > Sync profile data. After syncing data to the Garmin, the Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer knows whether you are a Premium user.

4. Data on the Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer not updated after sync

Problem: When I sync data from the mobile app to the data field (profile data or nutrition products), both the mobile app and the data field state that the data was successfully synced, however, the data on the data field is not updated.

Solution: It might be that there is some issue with caching on Garmin. Try the following:

  • On your phone: turn Bluetooth off and on. Turn your Garmin off and on. Try to sync the data from the mobile app again.
  • If it doesn’t work, uninstall the Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer from your Garmin and reinstall the data field. In Garmin Connect remove your device from the list of known devices and add it again. After these steps, try to sync data from the mobile app to the data field.

5. Intake not synced to the mobile app

Problem: I have logged my intake during my ride on the Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer, but the intake is not synced to the EatMyRide mobile app after my ride.

Solution: To sync your intake to the mobile app after the ride, two things are required:

  1. Make sure that you have connected Garmin in the EatMyRide app via Connections. Only if you have connected Garmin, the .FIT file of your ride will be synced in which the logged intake is saved. If you have connected Strava for activities in EatMyRide, the intake can’t be synced.
  2. Make sure you only use one of the EatMyRide Garmin apps at a time, so either the Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer or the Cycling Nutrition Planner. Do not use both apps at the same time, as the mobile app can only read the logged intake of one app at a time and not both.
