Early in the season professional cyclists use to prepare themselves for the season during altitude camps. During these training camps the training volume is very high. Since the riders burn a lot of energy, nutrition is a vital part to nail. The pre-season also is the moment to train the gut and to get used (again) to consuming a lot of carbohydrates and fluids during rides.
