In this guide we cover some of the most frequently asked questions about the Cycling Nutrition Planner data field for Garmin.

1. Data field shows the wrong nutrition plan

Problem: When I sync my nutrition plan to the data field, the data field keeps showing an old nutrition plan.

Solution: There might be something related to caching going wrong in the Garmin device. Try the following steps to solve the issue.

  • In the Cycling Nutrition Planner data field go to the Menu () > Settings > More settings and tap Clear nutrition plan. This removes the current plan from the Garmin. Then turn the Garmin off and on again. On your phone turn Bluetooth off and on so that the phone reconnects to the Garmin. Try to send the nutrition plan again.

If you are still facing the issue:

  • Try to uninstall the data field from your Garmin and reinstall it. Then try to send the plan again.

If the issue persists:

  • Remove the device from the known devices in Garmin Connect and add it again. Then try to send the plan again.

2. Mobile app says that Bluetooth isn’t enabled

Problem: I have enabled Bluetooth on my phone and my Garmin device is connected in Garmin Connect. However, when I try to sync data from the EatMyRide mobile app to my Garmin, the EatMyRide mobile app states that Bluetooth is not enabled.

Solution: The EatMyRide app needs to have permission to get access to Bluetooth on your phone. Go to the settings of your phone and make sure that the EatMyRide app has permission to use Bluetooth.

  • On Android: Go to Settings > Apps and notifications > EatMyRide > Permissions and allow Bluetooth permission.
  • On iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy and alter the permissions for Bluetooth so that EatMyRide has access to Bluetooth.

3. Data field does not give alerts

Problem: When I am using the data field it does not give alerts when I need to eat and drink. It only shows what I need to take when I am on the screen of the data field.

Solution: In this article we explain how you can enable alerts.

4. Intake is not shown in the mobile app

Problem: I have confirmed my intake during my ride on the Cycling Nutrition Planner data field, but the intake is not synced to the EatMyRide mobile app after my ride.

Solution: To sync your intake to the mobile app after the ride, two things are required:

  1. Make sure that you have connected Garmin in the EatMyRide app via Connections. Only if you have connected Garmin, the .FIT file of your ride will be synced in which the logged intake is saved. If you have connected Strava for activities in EatMyRide, the intake can’t be synced.
  2. Make sure you only use one of the EatMyRide Garmin apps at a time, so either the Carbohydrate Burn / Intake Balancer or the Cycling Nutrition Planner. Do not use both apps at the same time, as the mobile app can only read the logged intake of one app at a time and not both.
